Duck and Waffle, Heron Tower

Sorry, i haven't been posting lately. 2 weeks left until my first exam and school has been soooo busy. So anyway, a friend of mine asked me if i could recommend him a romantic restaurant in London. Well, to be truth, i don't quite know because i am single (i know it's sad). But, when i think of the word 'romantic dinner', fine dining at a skyscraper popped in my head.

I know there are many restaurants in London that located on high buildings, but i haven't got time to try all of them, but one that i have tried is Duck and Waffle that located on 40th floor of Heron Tower. For those who don't know, Heron Tower is one of the London's tallest buildings, it was completed in March 2011, and the D&W itself opened in summer 2012.

As you can see, the place is really beautiful, especially at night. You can enjoy the breathtaking view of London while you having dinner (or lunch). Award-winning architects CetraRuddy designed Duck & Waffle’s interior, which features wrap around floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the expanse of the City and notable London landmarks, creating an intimate dining experience. It also has open kitchen and open 24/7, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night menus.

Roasted Octopus (£13.00)
The octopus was fantastic! There were chorizos, potatoes and capers in it, which made the dish even more delicious. Me and my friends ordered this for starters and it finished within seconds. The only downside was the portion. As you can see, it was very small and i think it is quite expensive, considering its size.

I am really sorry, but i forgot what this dish called. The weird thing is that it wasn't even in the menu when i checked it online. But, as i remembered, it is some kind like a mozzarella bread with a bit of beef. The bread was really soft and fluffy, combined with a very smooth texture of melted cheese.

Duck and Waffle (£17.00)
As you might have guessed, this is the signature dish of the restaurant. It is on the breakfast, brunch, all day, and even late night menu. I never knew before, that eating duck and waffle simultaneously could be this delicious. The duck was a bit dry, but very juicy inside. The waffle was at perfect crunchiness. Paired with the egg and maple syrup, you can taste sweetness and saltiness at the same time, at a proper balance. This dish is very recommended!

The service was really good. And just to let you know, the waiter and waitress are mostly very good looking (i don't know why i mentioned this). As for pricing, i think it's a bit expensive, but quite reasonable since it is a fine dining restaurant with a great food, service, and location. Try to book a place before you came because it usually very crowded and the seats are quite limited. Dress nicely since they have no sneakers policy. Overall, I give 4/5 for this restaurant.
